Soil Properties Testing
The lab’s testing capabilities include analysis of consolidated and unconsolidated materials such as:
-
Rock
-
Soil
-
Fly ash
-
Waste rock tailing
-
Slag
-
Concrete
-
And much more

The Hydrologic Testing and Research Laboratory uses procedures established by the American Society of Testing and Materials (ASTM), American Petroleum Institute (API), and American Society of Agronomy as well as procedures developed and patented by DBS&A personnel. In addition, our laboratory is licensed to handle low-level radioactive samples.

DBS&A conducts tests that provide information such as:
- Soil water characteristic curves (SWCC)
- Soil modeling parameters
- Van Genuchten parameters (alpha and N)
- Soil moisture retention parameters
- Soil physical properties
- Soil density and moisture content
- Hysteresis
- Saturated and unsaturated hydraulic conductivity
- Soil cover material testing
- Soil borrow material testing
- Soil moisture content vs. conductivity
- Soil moisture content vs. tension
- Theta vs. K testing
- Hydraulic parameters
- Soil water movement
- Vadose zone
